Job Description

Job descriptionFinance & Control

  • Lead the annual budgeting and planning cycle in collaboration with management and project teams
  • Prepare, monitor and control organisational and project budgets
  • Establish and maintain financial control frameworks and reporting structures
  • Analyse budget versus actuals and provide insights to management
  • Oversee accounting, audit processes and financial compliance
  • Advise on grants, contracts and donor requirements
  • Ensure compliance with international tax regulations



IT & Process Management

  • Oversee IT systems, infrastructure, and data security (including GDPR compliance)
  • Drive process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure smooth and efficient international operations
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges
  • Manage relationships with external service providers and suppliers



Leadership & Management

  • Define departmental strategies and set quarterly priorities
  • Lead and develop a team of five professionals
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing work culture
  • Drive performance management and professional development
  • Act as a strategic sparring partner for senior leadership

The Successful Applicant

Candidate profile

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in an international organisation
  • Strong experience in finance, compliance, control and process management
  • Proven track record in team leadership and stakeholder management
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on, resilient and able to perform under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch
  • EU citizenship or valid Dutch work permit



Nice to have:

  • Experience within an NGO or non-profit environment
  • Knowledge of Dutch tax and financial regulations
  • Experience with outsourced services and vendor management
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, AFAS and ClickUp
