About Our Client

Our client is an international organisation operating within the consumer goods sector, with its Dutch office based in Amsterdam.

The company combines the scale and professionalism of an international business with a collaborative and entrepreneurial working environment. Finance plays an important role in supporting commercial decision-making, improving performance and further professionalising the organisation.

Due to continued growth and development of the finance function, the organisation is looking to strengthen its controlling team with an experienced Business Controller.

Job Description

As Business Controller, you will work closely with both Finance and the commercial organisation and act as a trusted business partner to senior stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Act as financial business partner for commercial and operational stakeholders;
Analyse revenue, margins, pricing, costs and overall business performance;
Prepare and coordinate budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans;
Translate financial results into clear management information and actionable insights;
Challenge commercial assumptions and support decision-making through scenario and business case analysis;
Identify risks, opportunities and performance improvement initiatives;
Develop and improve dashboards, KPI reporting and management reports;
Support month-end and periodic performance reviews together with the accounting team;
Drive improvements in financial processes, reporting and data quality;
Participate in strategic and cross-functional projects;
Support senior management with ad-hoc financial and commercial analysis.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate combines strong financial analytical skills with a commercial mindset and enjoys working closely with the business.

You bring:

A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics or a related field;
Approximately 4-8 years of relevant experience within Business Control, FP&A, Commercial Finance or Financial Control;
Experience working in an international or commercially driven organisation;
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business advice;
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and performance analysis;
Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI and ERP systems is considered an advantage;
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills;
A proactive and hands-on working style;
The confidence to challenge senior stakeholders while maintaining strong working relationships;
Professional fluency in English. Dutch is considered an advantage but is not essential.
