Job Description

As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of the financial administration. You will ensure that management and other stakeholders receive complete, timely and reliable financial information.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare, review and optimise periodic financial and management reports;
  • Coordinate and deliver accurate month-end and year-end closing processes;
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, latest estimates and rolling forecasts;
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance against budget and forecast;
  • Identify, investigate and explain financial variances and developments;
  • Prepare reliable cash flow forecasts for projects and the wider organisation;
  • Coordinate the preparation of statutory annual financial statements;
  • Support the external audit and provide the required financial documentation;
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial regulations and internal policies;
  • Monitor and strengthen internal control frameworks;
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks;
  • Improve and standardise financial processes, reporting structures and controls;
  • Support international finance and project teams with reporting and financial coordination;
  • Work closely with project management, finance colleagues and senior stakeholders;
  • Contribute to the further professionalisation of the Finance & Control department.



This is a broad and hands-on Financial Controller position. You will work directly with the financial details while maintaining oversight of the wider organisation and its international projects.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate is an experienced Financial Controller with a strong accounting background and solid experience within an international industrial, construction or engineering environment.

You combine technical finance knowledge with a structured and hands-on approach. You take ownership of your responsibilities, maintain oversight in a complex environment and deliver accurate work within strict deadlines.

You bring:

  • A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field;
  • At least five years of relevant experience as a Financial Controller or in a comparable accounting-focused position;
  • Strong experience with month-end and year-end closing processes;
  • Experience preparing financial reports, budgets and forecasts;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls;
  • Experience within an international industrial, engineering, infrastructure, construction or oil and gas environment;
  • Experience working in a project-based or capital-intensive organisation;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities;
  • Experience working with ERP systems;
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an advantage;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch and English.



You are accurate, proactive and well organised. You work independently, communicate effectively with different stakeholders and are comfortable challenging existing processes when improvements are needed.
