Our client is an international, technology-driven manufacturer developing specialised products for demanding industrial applications. Engineering, innovation, reliability and safety are at the heart of its product portfolio.

You will join an international and multidisciplinary product development environment where mechanical engineering works closely with electronics, operations, quality, suppliers and product management.

The organisation is looking for an experienced engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of technically complex development projects and enjoys working from initial concept all the way through to a production-ready product.

Functie

  • Lead mechanical product development from concept through prototyping, testing, validation and release to production;
  • Translate technical and functional requirements into robust, reliable and manufacturable mechanical designs;
  • Design complex mechanical assemblies, gear systems, transmission mechanisms and drive solutions;
  • Integrate mechanical systems with pneumatic and/or electric drive technologies;
  • Perform engineering calculations and FEM/FEA analyses for strength, stiffness, fatigue and design optimisation;
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models, production drawings, tolerance analyses and bills of materials;
  • Build, assemble and test prototypes and use test results to continuously improve designs;
  • Define and execute functional, durability and performance testing;
  • Work closely with electronics and controls engineers on electromechanical product development;
  • Collaborate with suppliers on component selection, manufacturability, tooling and production readiness;
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly principles throughout the development process;
  • Support the industrialisation and production release of newly developed products;
  • Provide senior mechanical engineering expertise to colleagues across Product Management, Operations, Quality and other disciplines;
  • Contribute to future product concepts, technology platforms and continuous product improvement.



Profiel

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development;
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline;
  • A background within a mid-tech or high-tech product development environment;
  • Proven experience taking physical products through the complete development lifecycle, from concept and detailed design to prototyping, validation and industrialisation;
  • Strong experience with complex mechanical assemblies, preferably including gearboxes, transmission systems, drive mechanisms, actuators, power tools or rotating equipment;
  • Advanced experience with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks or a comparable platform;
  • Practical experience with FEM/FEA for structural and/or fatigue analysis;
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering calculations, tolerances and GD&T;
  • Knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturing principles;
  • Hands-on experience with prototype assembly, testing, problem-solving and product validation;
  • Experience working in an international and multidisciplinary engineering environment;
  • Professional proficiency in English
