As an Ocean Import Forwarder, you are responsible for managing the complete ocean import process from start to finish. You ensure shipments are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with customer agreements. You act as the key contact for customers, carriers, agents, and internal departments.

Job Description

  • Managing ocean import files end-to-end.
  • Maintaining contact with customers, shipping lines, agents, and transport partners.
  • Planning and coordinating import shipments.
  • Reviewing and processing import documentation such as Bills of Lading, arrival notices, and customs documents.
  • Coordinating inland transport with carriers and warehouses.
  • Tracking shipments and proactively updating customers on status.
  • Resolving operational issues and delays.
  • Checking costs and preparing purchase and sales invoices.
  • Contributing to profitable and efficient transport execution.
  • Supporting process improvements within the department.

The Successful Applicant

  • MBO+/HBO working and thinking level.
  • Experience in ocean freight forwarding is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of import processes and logistics documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Able to work under pressure and manage multiple files simultaneously.
  • Proactive, accurate, and solution-oriented.
  • Commercial awareness and a hands-on mentality.
  • Excellent command of the English language (spoken and written).
  • Dutch is an advantage.
  • Team player in an international environment.
