Job Description

  • Lead the full financial lifecycle of institutional donor-funded projects, from budgeting to final reporting and audits
  • Develop project budgets in collaboration with fundraising and programme teams
  • Assess donor requirements and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks, and advise on corrective actions
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, liquidity requests, and internal overviews
  • Manage complex donor contracts and coordinate audits and compliance processes
  • Supervise and coach the Grant Administration Unit, ensuring strong financial oversight
  • Review partner budgets, financial reports, and assess compliance and capacity
  • Strengthen internal financial processes and align them with donor requirements
  • Act as a strategic finance partner across teams, supporting reporting, budgeting, and governance
  • Contribute to organisational financial planning, audits, and process improvements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure accurate financial data and workflows

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong experience in project controlling, financial management, and donor-funded environments
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance processes
  • Experience with institutional donors and complex funding requirements (e.g. contracts, audits)
  • Proven ability to manage and coach a small team
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data for non-finance audiences
  • High level of attention to detail combined with strategic thinking
  • Experience working in international, non-profit, or social impact organisations is a plus
  • Knowledge of financial systems, strong Excel skills, and ideally familiarity with CRM/accounting tools
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment
  • Genuine interest in social justice, human rights, and mission-driven work
