The company is established in manufacturing within the plastics production industry, supplying high-quality plastic products and solutions to customers across multiple markets.

With several entities and a growing international customer and supplier base, Finance plays an important role in maintaining control while supporting the continued development of the organisation.

To further strengthen our finance function, we are looking for an experienced Financial Controller who will take ownership of financial accounting, reporting and control.

Job Description

Taking ownership of the complete financial administration for the company and its related entities
Coordinating and reviewing the monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes
Preparing and analysing periodic financial statements and management reports
Ensuring the integrity, accuracy and completeness of the general ledger
Managing balance sheet reconciliations, provisions, accruals and intercompany positions
Maintaining financial control over a manufacturing environment, including areas such as inventory, production costs and working capital
Monitoring the financial administration surrounding purchasing, production and inventory movements
Strengthening internal controls and improving finance procedures across the organisation
Identifying financial risks and developing appropriate control measures
Leading, coaching and supporting colleagues within the finance team
Acting as a financial sparring partner for management and other departments
Converting financial information into clear insights and recommendations for management
Supporting further automation and optimisation of financial processes and systems
Taking ownership of the statutory annual accounts and coordinating the year-end audit
Acting as the main contact for the external accountant and auditor
Contributing to the continued professionalisation and scalability of the finance organisation

The Successful Applicant

A completed HBO or university degree in Accountancy, Finance & Control, Business Economics or a comparable field
Approximately 8+ years of relevant experience within accounting, financial control or external audit
Experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial organisation is strongly preferred
A background in external audit combined with subsequent experience in an in-house finance position is an advantage
Strong technical accounting knowledge, preferably including experience with Dutch GAAP and IFRS
Experience with statutory reporting and coordinating external audits
Understanding of financial processes within a production environment, including inventory accounting, cost allocation and manufacturing costs
Previous experience supervising, coaching or developing finance colleagues
Strong analytical skills combined with a high level of accuracy
The ability to move comfortably between detailed accounting topics and broader business discussions
A proactive approach to improving processes, controls and financial systems
Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge stakeholders when necessary
Good command of both Dutch and English
Full-time availability, preferably at short notice
