    • Incident Response & Reporting
Lead the response to security incidents and ensure timely reporting, aligned with DORA/NIS2 obligations.
    • Threat Detection & Monitoring
Operate and fine-tune platforms like SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and log analytics to detect, respond and prevent threats.
    • Security Architecture, Networking & System Hardening
Design, implement and maintain secure infrastructures across Windows, Linux, cloud platforms and corporate networks.
Apply system and network hardening best practices across all environments (on-premises and hybrid).
    • Microsoft 365 Security Management
Implement and manage Microsoft 365 security configurations, including Defender for Office 365, Conditional Access, Intune device management, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Identity Protection.
    • Compliance-Driven Controls Implementation
Translate regulatory and policy requirements (NIS2, DORA, ISO 27001) into technical controls, processes, and governance structures.
    • Security Operations
Perform vulnerability management, coordinate penetration tests, oversee patching, and conduct forensic investigations if needed.
    • Automation & Engineering
Develop and automate security scripts, monitoring dashboards, and alerting mechanisms (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
    • Security Advisory & Awareness. Act as a trusted advisor for internal teams (IT, DevOps, Legal/Compliance) and actively contribute to security awareness programs

The Successful Applicant

  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in Security Engineering, System Administration with a security focus, or SOC-related roles.
  • Hands-on expertise with SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Network security principles (firewall rulesets, VPNs, segmentation, DNS filtering, etc.)
    • IAM (Identity and Access Management) concepts
    • Microsoft 365 security configurations and policies
    • Cloud security frameworks (Azure, AWS or similar)
  • Experience with incident response, SOC operations, and forensic analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of compliance frameworks such as NIS2, DORA, and ISO 27001, and the ability to operationalize them.
  • Proactive, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar).
  • Fluent in Dutch and/or English.
  • Personality: The ideal candidate is a proactive and independent Security Engineer who takes full ownership of cybersecurity efforts, ensuring compliance with NIS2, DORA, and other regulations. Rather than requiring oversight, they confidently apply their expertise to identify risks, implement security controls, and strengthen the organization's security posture. With a hands-on approach, they manage incident response, security monitoring, and system hardening, effectively relieving the organization from these tasks. A strong team player with a sense of humor, they collaborate seamlessly while maintaining full accountability for their work. Adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to travel to European offices when needed are essential qualities for success in this role.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary with potential secondary benefits.
  • Hybrid work model with 3-4 days in the office and flexible arrangements.
  • A one-year contract with potential for an indefinite contract from the start, depending on the candidate.
  • Team outings to exciting destinations such as Switzerland for skiing and Madrid for team-building activities.
