Job Description

Promontory is seeking a Senior Principal with demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance to join its Compliance Practice Group. As a Senior Principal you will support Directors and Managing Directors in helping banks and other financial institutions address compliance risk management challenges or legal or regulatory issues related to compliance with ECB, DNB and other relevant laws and regulations. The position will be based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver on engagements or engagement workstreams while demonstrating strong leadership, subject matter expertise, quality in delivery, and management of budgetary resources.
  • Review and analyse client written materials, such as policies, procedures, and governance artefacts.
  • Interact comfortably with and present findings and recommendations Executive Management of clients.
  • Contribute to business development activities with new or existing clients, including development of new service offerings and solutions.
  • Analyse legal or regulatory requirements, including as developed through administrative or judicial proceedings.
  • Develop reports on Global and EU financial regulatory developments.

The Successful Applicant

Required Technical and Professional Expertise :

  • Senior professional with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience to include a senior-level position in a financial institution(s), consulting/law firm(s), and/or regulatory agency.
  • In-depth knowledge of Customer Due Diligence and Financial Economic Crime / KYC Compliance is preferred. You must have an excellent understanding of regulatory requirements for KYC, relevant Dutch\EU regulations such as Wwft, Wft and sanctions law, and understand how to implement them in a risk-based approach.
  • Experience with assessing, designing, enhancing, and implementing compliance risk management programs, including policies, procedures, methodologies, and technologies related to compliance risk assessment, regulatory change management, monitoring, testing, issue management, complaints management, compliance risk appetite statements, measures and metrics
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in EU and DNB laws and regulations applicable to financial services organisations and products.
  • Proven leadership ability with a commitment to quality in execution and delivery.
  • Experience planning, managing, and executing day-to-day aspects of engagement activities, including project and resource plans, budgeting and invoicing, execution methodologies, deliverables, and presentations.
  • Superior analytical, writing, and editing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organisation..

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience :

* Dutch Language Skills required with French Language Skills a plus as the role will primarily cover the Benelux area.
* Strong working history in compliance risk management at a financial institution(s), consulting/accounting/law firm(s), and/or government agency.
* Track record working in an unstructured environment where engagement leaders are expected to identify and develop innovative solutions to client challenges.
