The Projects department oversees infrastructure projects within the existing network in Belgium. They seek a Pipelines Study Engineer to ensure pipeline construction projects meet legal, quality, and safety standards within budget.

Job Description

  • Project Analysis and Feasibility Studies: Analyze needs for assigned projects, conduct feasibility or final studies, define pipeline routes, and evaluate possible solutions (e.g., river or infrastructure crossings).
  • Stakeholder Negotiations: Engage and negotiate with relevant parties (local or regional authorities or clients). Decide on alternatives in collaboration with the project manager and the Community Relations department.
  • Coordination of Studies and Surveys: Coordinate internal and external studies and soil surveys, and provide necessary plans and documents to obtain permits.
  • Safety and Technical Specifications: Prepare the project's safety dossier, technical specifications (specifications, measurement statements, etc.), and material lists for the works.
  • Civil Engineering Expertise: Serve as the point of contact for all civil engineering expertise for third-party works near the transport network at the request of the Grid department's route managers.

The Successful Applicant

  • Educational Background: Master's degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience, preferably in civil engineering projects, pipeline construction, linear infrastructure, or (petro)chemical installations.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong focus on safety and knowledge of "well-being" legislation. Possession of a VCA certificate or a level B safety coordinator diploma is a plus.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (French is a plus)
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Belgium.
