About Our Client

Our client GLS (General Logistic Systems) is one of the largest ground-based providers of deferred parcel delivery services in Europe and North America with a growing international footprint which currently includes around 40 countries and nation states. In FY2020-21, GLS generated €4,525m revenue and €401m operating profit, and had around 21,000 employees, 71 network hubs, c. 25,000 parcel shops and c 1,500 depots.

The Group has strong track record of delivering inorganic growth with the GLS network today having been developed by in excess of over 30 acquisitions since 2000. Having delivered record financial performance in FY2020/21 GLS sees increasing opportunities to cement its strong position, increase scale and create shareholder value through M&A.

Job Description

  • Perform financial analysis of peer companies and precedent transactions relevant to GLS
  • Serve as integral member of deal teams executing a broad range of acquisitions, joint ventures and divestitures
  • Work with cross-functional groups to review information to screen initial opportunities and assess target company fit and attractiveness
  • Assist with project management and coordination/development of work plans, deliverables and other M&A activities
  • Develop financial models to evaluate, challenge, and stress-test these models with robust scenarios and sensitivities
  • Prepare investment recommendation papers for executive management Board approval and ultimately approval by GLS's Board of Directors
  • Support financial aspects of contractual negotiations such as completion accounts
  • Perform other duties as assigned such as supporting preparation of investor relations materials, ad-hoc analysis for GLS CEO and CFO and investment appraisal

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or Economics
  • Qualified accountant preferable
  • 3+ years' experience in transaction services, investment banking, private equity, corporate development or consulting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Proficiency in the English language with strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Possession of an entrepreneurial, self-starter attitude and comfort working in a small, dynamic team
  • Experience working in a high growth, fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Right to employment in The Netherlands
