The Leader of Carrier Management is responsible for providing strategic support to the Trade Lane & Carrier Management Manager in managing regional carrier management functions. The Roll includes building strong relationships with Global Core Carriers selected by GHQ and regional Core Carriers selected by GHQ-Arm to support procurement and pricing of European OpCos.

Freight ForwardingThe freight forwarding services we provide include:

Job Description

The Leader of Carrier Management is responsible for providing strategic support to the Trade Lane & Carrier Management Manager in managing regional carrier management functions. The Roll includes building strong relationships with Global Core Carriers selected by GHQ and regional Core Carriers selected by GHQ-Arm to support procurement and pricing of European OpCos.

Regional Procurement

  • Lead the selection of key regional carriers and build strategic procurement partnerships.
  • Support OpCos in Europe with their procurement needs and contribute to regional procurement strategy development.



Airline Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to ensure the best quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships and reliability.



Contract Negotiation

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favourable terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all procurement activities.



Regional Pricing

  • Manage investment programs, including strategic pricing and Suggested internal selling rates, to align with Global Headquarters (GHQ) initiatives.
  • In line with the regional Pricing Strategy, cooperate with European OpCos to effectively pricing



Performance Monitoring

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of procurement activities.
  • Continuously improve procurement processes based on performance data and feedback.



The Successful Applicant

Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of air and freight forwarding business.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of air freight forwarding procurement.
  • Familiarity with regional trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance.
  • Expertise in procurement, pricing strategies, and carrier management.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or Master's) in Logistics, International Trade, or similar fields (preferred).
  • Industry certifications, such as Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) or certifications from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), are a plus.



Skills:

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills for managing relationships with key carriers, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Analytical: Ability to analyse trade lane performance, procurement strategies, and pricing models to optimize operations.
  • Relationship Building: Effective in building and maintaining long-term relationships with carriers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Adaptability: Able to navigate complex, fast-changing market environments and develop innovative solutions.



Experience:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Air Freight Forwarding.
  • Demonstrated experience managing trade lanes, especially within air.
  • Experience working with regional and global procurement strategies.
  • Previous experience with P&L responsibility and financial performance management.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing gateway strategies and consolidation initiatives.
  • Experience in managing carrier relationships and negotiating contracts. Fluent English proficiency mandatory, other languages are a plus
