Job Description

As CMI Lead within Biogen you will be working within a mid-sized business that operates quite independently within the larger Biogen international group. As such, you have the best of both worlds. It means that you're close to the business and have the ability to operate on various levels (e.g. operational, tactical, strategical) and deal with broad responsibilities, while benefitting from well-developed standardized processes.

The CMI Lead is responsible for analyzing sales, market share, market trends, patient data, market research, competitive and new market intelligence of Biogen products and provides recommendations. The CMI Lead will be instrumental in business performance assessment and insight generation, aimed at informing leadership decision making driving Biogen operations . The CMI Lead will work closely with the Finance Director, Commercial Director and other members of the local leadership team, as well as with the regional CMI team, spanning Europe, Canada & Partner Markets The CMI Team works across therapy areas: Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Biosimilars & Alzheimer's Disease

The overall mission is to create integrated strategic insights and analytics on affiliate business performance, utilizing Market Research, primary and secondary Analytics, Reporting and Competitive Intelligence. Within these insight disciplines, the CMI Lead will drive and build functional excellence using strategic thinking and advanced business analytics capabilities. The CMI Manager will provide regular recommendations for affiliate leadership teams and key business functions, as well as driving forecasting processes. The CMI Lead will report into the ECP CMI Head, with a dotted line to the affiliate Head of Finance.

In short, the CMI Lead is responsible for:

  • Providing rigorous assessment and diagnosis of brand and market performance, presenting insights and recommendations
  • Reporting of patient data, market shares, (daily) sales and CI insights. For this, the CMI manager relies on IQVIA, Farminform, Brocacef, CI and Market Research data.
  • Applying analytical expertise to support decision making, conducting critical analyses by integrating multiple data sources to provide an objective viewpoint and recommendations
  • Ad-hoc analysis of data, providing detailed understanding of business trends etc. to support decision making
  • Driving the Affiliate's self-analytics by building strong Power-BI platforms
  • Actively involved in Monthly and Quarterly reporting cycles, the AOP & forecast process
  • Leveraging analytics expertise and brand knowledge to align and support the affiliate during key business processes such as Business Reviews and Annual Operating Planning
  • Providing rigorous assessment and diagnosis of brand and market performance, presenting insights and recommendations
  • Leveraging Regional reports to communicate key information, insights and recommendations
  • Analysing, visualizing and communicating key business intelligence to affiliate and ECP Regional stakeholders

The Successful Applicant

Our ideal candidate matches the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience within a life science company or consulting firm, with specific focus on driving insights and decision making
  • Strong (proven) analytical skills with ability to synthesize large amounts of information and logically structure and innovative delivery;
  • Broad understanding of pharmaceutical data, including sales, longitudinal & market research data, and which source to leverage in order to answer business questions most effectively
  • Experience within specialty care. Neurology and ideally Rare disease is a strong advantage
  • Advanced user of Excel, Power-BI preferred
  • Experience with Oracle-Hyperion preferred
  • Fluent in English, Dutch preferred
  • Hands-on mentality, accountable and agile
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communication and presentation skills;
  • Customer focused;
  • Team player, flexible, ability to navigate in ambiguity;
  • Ability to work independently and in a proactive way;
  • Driven and self-motivated and able to work upon their own initiative


  • BSc. in business, economics and finance, or Life Sciences/medicine-related degree
  • MBA or MSc preferred
