Currently Philips holds about 48.000 patent rights, 35.000 trademarks, 56.000 design rights and 3.100 domain names. All these are created and managed by the Philips Intellectual Property & Standards organisation (IP&S) and are used to support the growth, profitability and competitiveness of the three business Sectors (Healthcare, Lighting and Consumer Lifestyle).
Through IP Licensing the needs of prospective licensees for technology get matched and fulfilled with technology that stems from Philips, which will result in a benefit for both sides. The IP&S Licensing team activities focus on identifying valuable technologies in the Philips' businesses and organisations and to sell licenses on their behalf to third parties. The technology offered can be a mix of intellectual property components like know-how, patents, or copyrights in some technical or application field and can be transferred to the licensee in the form of technical designs, process descriptions and with the rights to apply those. For the IP&S team we are currently seeking an IP Counsel with focus on Business Development, for the IP Licensing portfolio. For this position it is important to have the drive to understand the business while understanding the IP content is essential as well. This position suits a result driven professional who is able to act as a true business partner, having an independent attitude and strong negotiation skills. Be responsible for Business Development for the IP Licensing portfolio
Be accountable from Lead to Agreement with new customers
Heavily involved in negotiations and customer relation management
Explore and define new IP opportunities on which you will create a business plan
Negotiate and close deals with new customers
Work closely with other teams and departments, like IP&S Legal
This role requires frequent (international) travel
Gezocht profiel
Masters degree from any of the major European countries, good understanding of patents and patent law
Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role where you focused on Business Development, for IP related matters
Able to understand the offer and close the deal
Experience in an innovative and industrial organisation is a pre
Strong customer facing and interaction skills, convincing
Result driven, commercial, with a high focus on quality
Able to work independently but also effectively interact with team members
Excellent negotiation and communication skills in both English and German
