Our client is a global natural gas based chemicals and construction company that prides itself on its entrepreneurial spirit. Over the last 50 years, the Company has grown from a small family run construction business to a global leader.
They have become a Dutch stock listed company in the beginning of 2013, it is in a phase of further strengthening and enhancing Governance, Risk management, Compliance Internal Control and Internal Auditing.
Currently we are recruiting an Internal Audit Manager with growth ambitions nationally or internationally
The Internal Audit Manager will be reporting to the Director Internal Audit and will have a primary responsibility and accountability for leading and/or participating as a member of an audit team conducting audits and risk oversight activities at locations worldwide. The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for performing operational audits, financial-related audits and/or EDP-audits as part of the overall audit plan. The focus is conformity and adherence to (financial) requirements and internal controls with a mind-set of affecting positive change in the business.
In addition to the primary responsibility of performing audits, the Internal Audit department is also supporting the implementation of a standardised Risk Management and Internal Control framework across the group.
The focus area will be the Holding as well as all business activities of company Chemicals/Fertilizers. The auditable units are located in various countries e.g. The Netherlands, Egypt, Algeria, USA, Dubai, etc
The Internal Audit department is adopting IIA standards for developing and enhancing its methodology, tools, audit approach etc.
In this role, the Internal Audit Manager will have opportunities to strengthen & optimise our business processes. He will be working in a team based out of the global head office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and will work closely with management to establish excellence in business processes and controls, taking a lead role in conducting internal audits.
The responsibility of the Internal Audit Manager covers the full life cycle of internal audits which includes developing scope, creating work programs, performing audit procedures, preparing internal audit reports, agreeing upon action plans and follow up of the implementation of audit actions.
The Internal Audit Manager assesses risk, internal controls and compliance with (financial) process requirements. In addition, he identifies process weaknesses, inefficiencies and operational issues.
He will also have a supportive/consultative role towards management for defining/designing the required policies, standards and procedures, etc.
Occasionally, the Internal Audit Manager might be responsible for the execution of special investigations and unplanned audits in close partnership with the Director Internal Audit.
The Internal Audit Manager contributes to team results by welcoming new and different work requirements, exploring new opportunities to add value to the company and its strategy.
The Internal Audit Manager coaches his colleagues accomplish related job results as and where needed. In addition, he is responsible for the internal quality review process (audit deliverables, reporting, etc.) as well as improving the service quality of the department.
Flexibility to travel abroad with approximately 30% international travel.
The Successful Applicant
The Internal Audit Manager needs to be able to work independently and act with a high degree of autonomy. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence people to obtain buy-in for constructive change are a prerequisite. In addition, proven experience in writing reports that are accurate, comprehensive and formatted with care is essential. Experience and understanding of key operational/business systems (e.g., SAP, GRC, etc.) and experience with Internal Control systems (e.g COSO) is a distinct advantage.
- Minimum Education:Master's degree and a qualified accountant (RA, CA/CPA);
- Years of professional experience: Minimum 10 year's experience in Financial Auditing and / or Operational Auditing
- Experience area: International level at a BIG-4 company or listed Company in combination with Management Experience
- Fluent in English, verbal and written.
